Italian Fabrics - Why they are still regarded as the best in the world
Thu, 27 Aug 09
Italian mills have always prided themselves on being the dominant innovators for high-end fabrics in the global market and today still remain the best. For years their period of influence was unchallenged. However over the last decade the textile industry has changed and increasing competition from China, South Korea, and Turkey has sadly caused many Italian mills to reinvent, downsize or shut down completely.
With the market flooded with cheap, lower quality products, people are now demanding we bring quality back into our wardrobe. Italian textiles will never be the cheapest but despite that manufacturers and fashion houses keep reordering fabrics from the Italians season after season because they know that Italians not only provide the highest quality but also infuse that little extra-- creativity, innovation, or new applications and combinations of traditional fabrics and yarns.
It's the famous saying "You get what you pay for."
