The big buying trip to Europe was a hit! Here’s some interesting things Shirt Studio’s company directors reflected on…
The 2 week trip in Europe has been an eventful one. We fly to London then to Paris, from there back to London for a day, then of to Strasbourg. Back to London for another day then off to Rome… so what have we learnt about Europe?
Every time we come here we are proud to be associated with European quality. From the simple sense of style to the bold colors, to the striking elegance in the buildings, the taste of the foods and the passion, love and warmth in the families that have welcomed us.
This begs to ask the question, why do the Europeans do fashion so well? On this trip we have found more of these answers. The Europeans make things simple. Look at the Italian food - a few core simple ingredients coupled with the best produce make an amazing dish! This is seen in their culture as well; simplicity makes perfection easy. The family meal: a simple pastry and a short black. The pizza: with a dash of tomato and cheese. All of these make amazing experiences and most of all they are simple.
This can be relayed in fashion as well. Do not over complicate designs. As I sit in the streets of Via Del Corso mesmerised at the Moschino window, all that is has is a beautiful black coat merchandised with a big heart shape on the window and nothing else. The coat looks so elegant and most of what makes the coat so remarkable is its simplicity. Italians work on simplicity and this incorporates great fabrics that feel right when you wear them. Simple colors, easy combinations and correct fits make for a stylish and flawless look.
So just as simple Italian cooking that delivers mouth watering tastes, the same can be applied to the fashion, with delicious fabrics, captivating simple designs and an after taste of classic pieces.
As I spoke to one of the chefs he said the problem in life and in cooking is that we overcomplicate everything… keep it simple and make your life and mind uncluttered.
Bon Appetite
