Spring Season Collection

Thu, 27 Aug 09

For ladies, it's vintage shirting.  That's right; we've injected some amazing contrast fabrics to create a unique range.  The contrast fabrics this season are bold, detailed and are the feature of the shirt.   We've introduced a double collar and cuff to work in with the theme.  The double collar and cuff appears subtly in a fabric that contrasts the shirt.  It's absolutely stunning.  And for women looking for a female dinner shirt, look no further.  Shirt Studio has introduced a classic ladies dinner shirt in black and white.

Shirt dresses you ask???   The wait is over!  We have released this week a new collection of Fi Fi L'Amour long sleeve shirt dresses encompassing all the details and trims you've grown to love from the Fi Fi L'Amour brand.

For men, the collection is colourful and bold.  In addition to our great men's classic range, we've introduced this season bold single coloured stripes on both a black and white base fabric.  It's a crisp look and perfect to welcome in spring.  Shirt trims for men form a paisley theme and provide a great contrast to the bold crisp stripes.  New to Shirt Studio is a traditional crisp white dinner shirt with a delicate pleated front sourced from one of Switzerland's finest mills.

What is the cost?

Each shirt is $110 including GST.  This includes free delivery to your office.  Shirts being offered at the boardroom are not available in Shirt Studio stores.  This is an exclusive offer.  Prices of shirts in Shirt Studio stores retail from $139 - $249.

Corporate Style

Thu, 27 Aug 09

The significance of style

First impressions are paramount in today's society. It has been shown in a US study that within the first 7 seconds of meeting someone almost 60% of the impression is made by what you are wearing, followed by the tone of your voice and language and then by what you're actually saying. Yes we are constantly judged by society in both business and social environments.

Meeting the dressing prerequisites in a business situation is not always about you - it's also about positively representing the company you work for. All businesses have a corporate culture that needs be taken seriously, and this extends to the presentation of their employees. A survey shows that employees with high levels of personal presentation are cost effective and create pride in the company while increasing the company's credibility.

The key to success is getting ready

The saying "the key to success is getting ready" is a strong statement when it comes presenting yourself for a job interview or a meeting with a client. If you have a job interview the most imperative thing to do is prepare yourself and be ready for the big day! Being prepared is the way to improve the chance of success. Research the company you're applying for a job with and know what you will say and how you will say it. The same goes for preparing your personal appearance. Think about what it is you want to achieve, and how you should dress to come across as professional. The way you look is all part of the process in making it a big hit!

Look Polished and Professional

Acquire some knowledge of the culture of your industry and the appropriate dress code. For example, finance roles, property development or recruitment agencies are well regarded and considered conservative, while an advertising agency may allow a little more fashion through the door.

It's important that you embody the professional image of the company you meet with. If you're serious about your career, you'll be more concerned with looking professional rather than trendy and cute. A general rule is - the more distracting a piece of clothing or jewellery the less appropriate it is for the office. Only one standout piece should be worn. A stand out piece in an interview can give the interviewer greater recall. For example, a bold colour tie (no quirky prints) or an impressive piece of jewellery or watch.

Colours play a major role in portraying a professional image. Keep it safe with your traditional career colours like navy which denotes trustworthiness, gray is conservative and black is chic. These colours will mix well with other softer colours you might wear. As your main overall colour try to stay away from loud colours like hot pink or bright orange and eliminate wild prints.

Take your time when trying clothes on...

  • Pants should be fitted, but free from visible underwear lines
  • Skirts, especially straight styles like pencil skirts, should be loose enough so that you can sit down comfortably.
  • Jackets should be able to be buttoned, and blouses shouldn't gap between buttonholes.
  • Most importantly make sure you feel comfortable in whatever you are wearing.

Shirt Studio Dress Presentations and Boardroom Series

If you are interested in finding out more about corporate dressing, call our corporate division on (07) 3217 2661. Presentations with information such as what has been covered in this article can be conducted at your place of work.

Shirt Studio's corporate division offers the Boardroom Series Event, which is a service where we come to your place of work and educate the staff on corporate dressing, what to wear in the office or any other work related events.

We will take your staff through everything they need to know from matching the staff's image to the corporate culture of the business, appropriate colours, ties, etc. We then give each person the opportunity to order shirts at a corporate rate, assisting each individual to choose the right styles and colours to suit them.

If you prefer a more private corporate dressing event, one-one-one appointments can be arranged.

6 Simple Tips to Safe Shopping Online

Thu, 27 Aug 09

Do you find it daunting to shop online? Have you ever been ripped off using your credit card online? If so you maybe asking how can I shop safely?

Well most of us have made a purchase online once in our lives, or made a transaction via net banking? (Statistics show that over 70% of internet users in Australia have shopped online before). However, people are now realizing that the convenience of shopping online does have some drawbacks, forcing people to avoid utilising these services.

In fact, I have also had a bad experience with purchasing a product online?. I once paid for an item I won on eBay using a payment gateway PayPal. The transaction went through and I received the goods. I was shocked to find out a couple months later that my credit card was charged a couple a hundred dollars without my authority. Looking into the matter it was found out that some thief had stolen my details from PayPal and used it to pay for some junk.

Despite this experience I have since made hundreds of purchases online, as I have found there our huge benefits. These benefits include: convenience, savings, time, greater product range and best of all its available 24/7.

After purchasing many products online and conducting further research I have come up with the following tips on how you can shop safely.

  1. Buy from sites that have some credibility and seem trustworthy? (i.e. Look for physical address and phone numbers).
  2. Read the terms and conditions (i.e. delivery and return policies) (is there a 30 day return policy?).
  3. Watch out for currency conversions, taxes, customs, package and postage.
  4. Make sure payments are secure, look at the address bar for "https://", or the Pad lock symbol located in the bottom right hand corner.
  5. Read the products clear description, watch out for fakes, make sure it's legal in Australia, and if in doubt ask for further information?
  6. Don't store your credit card details online, including major payment gateways (paypal), instead re-enter when making a purchase.

Colours, colours, colours

Thu, 27 Aug 09

by Elli Lavon, Ellavate - www.elliv8.com

All colours in clothing send specific subconscious messages and meanings about the wearer to the outside world that reflect certain characteristics.  When we are dealing with different people, it is important that we do not send unwanted vibes through the clothes that we are wearing and create consistency in our personality, intentions and appearance.

These aspects become especially crucial during key events such as job interviews, special occasions and business dealings. Thus, we need to be consious of how the colours that we may be wearing can be translated to reflect the look that we desire.

Below are just a few interpretations of different colours. So, next time you get dressed you have the power to send out the message you want:

White
White is a neutral colour that signifies cleanliness, simplicity and purity. It highlights the importance of the individual and ego. White symbolises traits that are uncomplicated and minimal and those who prefers to be alone.

Maroon
Maroon indicates someone who likes to think things through and analyse situations in detail before making a decision. Maroon wearers are naturally tempted by power and assume responsibility easily.

Sky Blue
Sky Blue highlights born leaders and visionaries. The colour suggests qualities of optimism, creativity abd charisma as well as conveying importance and confidence without being dull nor sinister.

Pink
The nature of pink tend to be nurturing, charming and playful. Although conventionally a feminine colour, pink is becoming a daring colour for the more cheekier males implying energy and positivity.

Green
Green can be used to create multiple meanings. Lighter shades signifies a summery feeling of freshness. More deeper shades imply balance, harmony and stability as well as a sense of envy, jealousy and inexperience.  Darker shades on the other hand denotes seriousness and sombre tones.

Yellow
Yellow is a warm cheerful colour that suggests happiness, energy and draws attention. On the flipside, yellow can also be associated with cowardice and dishonesty.

TIP!

Wear a shirt or tie that is the same colour as your eyes. This will make you look honest, open and communicative. It's a fabulous colour to wear for job interviews, counseling and lots more!

Each day brings us new and different situations to deal with and the colors you choose to wear sends a subconscious reflection of your mood. Now that you know what subliminal vibes you are sending out, will you choose your colours more carefully for certain occasions in the future?
